Garter Stitch Bag

This yarn was originally a scarf but it was much too itchy so I frogged it and turned into a chunky bag. I added a lining so the bag doesn't sag.

Rowan Chunky Jacket

After churning out scarves like mad, I wanted to make something slightly more complicated. It's been a long time since I knit a "real" sweater so in the end I chose Rowan Big Wool (guess in what color?). I figured at 15mm, how can I go wrong?

Garter Scarves

When Christmas rolls around, shopping stalls selling yarn sprout up in HK. Spools and spools of delightfully and deliciously colored yarns. Mostly synthetic fibres and probably from China, but it's very soft, warm and quick to knit up. One spool knits up one scarf, and you just go and go until it runs out. How can one resist?

These were my Xmas 2004 presents to my SW friends in HK. :)

Lengthwise Garter Scarf

Orange and blue and grey too... Saw some scarves like this at high-end shops selling at high-end prices. Here's my attempt at working lengthwise and testing whether the yarn ends can be worked into fringe. The answer is yes! I just took me 2 nights... and they sell something similar for HK$500+. Woohoo!

Lacy Fuzzy Scarves

There were three.... and then there was one. (the others were given away before digital cameras were all the rage). They all follow the same pattern but in slightly different colors.

A trio of scarves for me to experiment my own definition of lace knitting (something with holes). Row 1: yo, K2tog; Row 2: purl. Failed on the skills experiment scale because the scarf was not square but a parallelogram! But gained extra brownie points for being "soft" and "pretty" and "different". That's what a real friend is! They not only accept but celebrate the flaws. :)

Soft Fuzzy Wrap

Soft, soft, soft is all I can use to describe this yarn. Bought some yarn and just started knitting, stopped when the yarn ran out. Alternated between 8mm and 20mm maximize yarn length and create some texture. The end product is a cross between a shawl, a wrap, a scarf. It's like a multi-purpose fuzzball. Even bear bear looks warm!

Tree Ornaments

These are so much fun to make and a great way to use up left over yarn too. My friend started a Christmas tradition of throwing a houseparty every Christmas... and all the guests had to bring ornament(s) for the tree. This was my contribution. A year later, I made these and attached it to a card... it's really cute too. Maybe one day when I have time, I can make enough cards to send to all my friends... (yeah right, I can't even handle making 4 Christmas presents...)Source: Family Circle Knitting: an old issue

Chenielle Scarf

My friend's birthday is on New Year's Eve. Personally, I think it kinda sucks to have a birthday so close to Christmas as the probability of receiving just 1 present is almost certain. To somewhat make up for it, I made her this scarf. I knit it lengthwise and it's sooo soft!

Baby Kimono Vest

With 6 months of our team secretary going on Mat leave (which is 10 weeks in HK), a member of my team also went on Mat leave! I made this kimono vest for the baby boy (WKK) and he wore it on his 1 month-old party. However, he was so tiny that the vest doesn't show up too well in pictures... so I have let my bear bear be a model. I enjoyed making the edging (knit 2 together, yo and fold over the edge) and there's an inch of very subtle knit and purl hearts. It's too bad, these pictures are not clear.

Baby Hat & Booties

One of the first baby things I made. A set of booties and a hat but no picture of the matching booties. The cabled hat called for pompoms/tassels but I think pompoms are messy (it's almost impossible to get a perfect sphere and they ALWAYS fall apart in the wash) while tassels are a bit wimpy. So, I dangled some crochet flowers instead (or what's supposed to be crochet flowers). She's such an adorable baby!

Fair Isle Sweater (BF Curse!)

Ah, yes. The classic boyfriend sweater curse. And this wasn't the first... although this one turned out quite nice. I never had a chance to see the dude wear it though because I gave it to him AFTER the break-up. *sigh* I am a statistic. A very nice merino wool on 4.5 mm needles... what was I thinking?! Maybe I should've kept it afterall... frog it and resuse the wool for something else! But I do think about this sweater often (not the dude!!)... it really was a super piece of art.

Chunky Sweater

This sweater was made back in 2000 when chunky sweaters were all the rage (in HK, at least). It wasn't really chunky afterall, but turned out OK. The color is really dark here... it's supposed to be creamy!

Yarn: Don't remember, it was 100% wool

Yarn Stash Garter St Scarf

Just a scarf using yarn left overs. Very easy garter stitch... Nothing really special and the yarn is slightly itchy so it's still sitting in the back of my closet. I hadn't knitted in a long time and it was a nice distraction. I guess it beats being in the yarn stash.

Source: Own design, circa 2000?
Yarn: Yarn left overs, 100% wool, it's a bit itchy in spots.
